A sheesham wood carved wood armchair built to order in solid sheesham in our Saharanpur workshop. American solid wood carving retro sofa chair, upholstered armchair. Finished in walnut, with the grain left where you can see it. Sheesham is the wood Saharanpur is known for: dense North Indian rosewood, deep brown, and the first choice of our carvers. Joints are mortise and tenon, cut and fitted dry before anything is glued. The frame is squared and checked before the finish goes on, and again after. The timber is seasoned before a single cut is made, so the piece stays true through Indian summers and monsoons. We finish by hand, wiping back between coats, so the surface still feels like wood. It measures 26 x 28 x 32 in (66 x 71 x 81 cm) and weighs about 31.3 kg.
