A mango wood pendant light 4 in solid mango wood, cut, joined and finished by hand. Distressed Mango Wood Ceiling Light. Finished in honey, with the grain left where you can see it. Mango wood is close-grained and warm in colour, a plantation hardwood that takes a finish evenly. Boards are picked for grain and strength, then planed, cut and fitted by hand. The frame is squared and checked before the finish goes on, and again after. The timber is seasoned before a single cut is made, so the piece stays true through Indian summers and monsoons. The finish is built up in thin layers so the grain stays visible rather than buried under paint. It measures 12 x 12 x 14 in (30 x 30 x 36 cm) and weighs about 3.1 kg.
