Mango Wood Pendant Light

A mango wood pendant light in solid mango wood, made one at a time rather than run off a line. Pendant light combining hand-distressed patinaed brass with handcrafted mango wood for a warm, artisanal statement fixture. Finished in patinaed brass with natural mango wood, with the grain left where you can see it. Mango wood is close-grained and warm in colour, a plantation hardwood that takes a finish evenly. Boards are picked for grain and strength, then planed, cut and fitted by hand. Joints are mortise and tenon, cut and fitted dry before anything is glued. Every surface is sanded through the grades until it is smooth to the hand, not just to the eye. The finish is built up in thin layers so the grain stays visible rather than buried under paint. It measures 12 x 12 x 14 in (30 x 30 x 36 cm) and weighs about 3.1 kg.
