Mango Wood Hand-Carved Nightstand

A mango wood hand-carved nightstand in solid mango wood, cut, joined and finished by hand. Cassidy reclaimed solid mango wood hand carved side table, Mia collection, distressed white finish. Finished in distressed white, with the grain left where you can see it. Mango wood is close-grained and warm in colour, a plantation hardwood that takes a finish evenly. Every surface is sanded through the grades until it is smooth to the hand, not just to the eye. The frame is squared and checked before the finish goes on, and again after. Joints are mortise and tenon, cut and fitted dry before anything is glued. The finish is built up in thin layers so the grain stays visible rather than buried under paint. It measures 26 x 13 x 26 in (66 x 33 x 66 cm) and weighs about 16.1 kg.
