A mango wood coffee table 7 in solid mango wood, cut, joined and finished by hand. Finished in honey, with the grain left where you can see it. Mango wood is close-grained and warm in colour, a plantation hardwood that takes a finish evenly. The frame is squared and checked before the finish goes on, and again after. The timber is seasoned before a single cut is made, so the piece stays true through Indian summers and monsoons. Every surface is sanded through the grades until it is smooth to the hand, not just to the eye. The finish is built up in thin layers so the grain stays visible rather than buried under paint. It measures 42 x 24 x 18 in (107 x 61 x 46 cm) and weighs about 22.1 kg.
