Teak Wood Hand-Carved Decorative Bench

A teak wood hand-carved decorative bench in solid teak, made one at a time rather than run off a line. Kalalou bench, carved teak wood crocodile, 14 inch tall, handcrafted decorative seat. Finished in natural teak, with the grain left where you can see it. Teak carries its own oils, which is why it takes heat, damp and years of use better than anything else we work with. The frame is squared and checked before the finish goes on, and again after. Joints are mortise and tenon, cut and fitted dry before anything is glued. Every surface is sanded through the grades until it is smooth to the hand, not just to the eye. We finish by hand, wiping back between coats, so the surface still feels like wood. It measures 10 x 10 x 14 in (25 x 25 x 36 cm) and weighs about 2.3 kg.
