A sheesham wood lounge chair built to order in solid sheesham in our Saharanpur workshop. Mid-century modern solid wood lounge chair. Finished in walnut, with the grain left where you can see it. Sheesham is the wood Saharanpur is known for: dense North Indian rosewood, deep brown, and the first choice of our carvers. Every surface is sanded through the grades until it is smooth to the hand, not just to the eye. The timber is seasoned before a single cut is made, so the piece stays true through Indian summers and monsoons. Joints are mortise and tenon, cut and fitted dry before anything is glued. We finish by hand, wiping back between coats, so the surface still feels like wood. It measures 30 x 34 x 34 in (76 x 86 x 86 cm) and weighs about 46.6 kg.
