A acacia wood platform bed 2 in solid acacia, cut, joined and finished by hand. Platform bed with solid acacia wood frame, organic-edge headboard with butterfly joinery, resting on flared steel legs. Finished in natural woodgrain, butterfly joinery, with the grain left where you can see it. Acacia is hard-wearing, with a grain that runs pale gold to deep brown across a single board. Boards are picked for grain and strength, then planed, cut and fitted by hand. The timber is seasoned before a single cut is made, so the piece stays true through Indian summers and monsoons. Joints are mortise and tenon, cut and fitted dry before anything is glued. The finish is built up in thin layers so the grain stays visible rather than buried under paint. It measures 78 x 84 x 42 in (198 x 213 x 107 cm) and weighs about 194.8 kg.
