Finished in natural wood tone, neutral fabric, with the grain left where you can see it. Acacia is hard-wearing, with a grain that runs pale gold to deep brown across a single board. Boards are picked for grain and strength, then planed, cut and fitted by hand. The frame is squared and checked before the finish goes on, and again after. The timber is seasoned before a single cut is made, so the piece stays true through Indian summers and monsoons. The finish is built up in thin layers so the grain stays visible rather than buried under paint. It measures 22 x 24 x 40 in (56 x 61 x 102 cm) and weighs about 37.4 kg.
