Teak carries its own oils, which is why it takes heat, damp and years of use better than anything else we work with. Every surface is sanded through the grades until it is smooth to the hand, not just to the eye. The frame is squared and checked before the finish goes on, and again after. The timber is seasoned before a single cut is made, so the piece stays true through Indian summers and monsoons. We finish by hand, wiping back between coats, so the surface still feels like wood. It measures 26 x 28 x 34 in (66 x 71 x 86 cm) and weighs about 41.4 kg.
