Every surface is sanded through the grades until it is smooth to the hand, not just to the eye. Boards are picked for grain and strength, then planed, cut and fitted by hand. The timber is seasoned before a single cut is made, so the piece stays true through Indian summers and monsoons. The finish is built up in thin layers so the grain stays visible rather than buried under paint. It measures 18 x 20 x 38 in (46 x 51 x 97 cm) and weighs about 18.4 kg.
