Mango Wood Hand-Carved Drawer Chest

A mango wood hand-carved drawer chest in solid mango wood, cut, joined and finished by hand. Solid mango wood 8-drawer chest with geometric carved fronts. Finished in honey, with the grain left where you can see it. Mango wood is close-grained and warm in colour, a plantation hardwood that takes a finish evenly. Boards are picked for grain and strength, then planed, cut and fitted by hand. Every surface is sanded through the grades until it is smooth to the hand, not just to the eye. Joints are mortise and tenon, cut and fitted dry before anything is glued. The finish is built up in thin layers so the grain stays visible rather than buried under paint. It measures 48 x 18 x 32 in (122 x 46 x 81 cm) and weighs about 44.9 kg.
